5 Valentine’s Themed Magnetic Tile Play Ideas
Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to build love and creativity with magnetic tiles! These hands-on STEM activities are fun, engaging, and full of Valentine’s Day charm. Here are five delightful play ideas to celebrate love with your kids. Let’s get building!
1. Heart Ball Run
What You’ll Need:
Magnetic tiles (squares, triangles, and hexagon), small balls (ping pong or marbles).
How to Build:

Start by building the base level using squares and add a ramp using triangles and squares. Continue to build up until is high enough for your liking.

Decorate the top of the ball run to form a heart using triangles.

Make sure there’s a clear path for the ball to roll from the top to the bottom.
Challenge: Experiment with different ramp angles to make the ball roll faster or slower!

2. Valentine’s House Vending Machine
What You’ll Need:
Magnetic tiles (variety of shapes), small Valentine treats (candy or small toys).
How to Build:

Build a house structure using squares, rectangles, and triangles.

Use triangles to form a heart where you can push the tiles back and the treats/toys will slide out.

Decorate the house with pink, red, and heart-themed tiles to make it festive.
Challenge: Create “Valentine Prizes” with whatever you can find around the house.

3. Heart-Themed Mini Golf
What You’ll Need:
Magnetic tiles (squares and triangles), a small ball, and a kid-sized golf club or stick.
How to Build:

Build a long ramp with a hole at the end.

Decorate the course with heart shapes and Valentine’s colors.
Challenge: Add twists and turns to the course or include ramps for an extra challenge!

4. Heart Coin Drop
What You’ll Need:
Magnetic tiles (baseplates, rectangles, squares, and triangles), coins or small discs.
How to Build:

Create a tall ramp using baseplates and rectangles.

Add a heart design on the front and use triangles to move the coins down the ramp.

Make it extra fun by using red and purple tiles to decorate the heart design.
Challenge: Time how fast you can drop all the coins or see how many coins fit inside!

What You’ll Need:
Magnetic tiles (hexagons, small rectangles, squares, and triangles).
How to Build:

Start with a hexagon base for the bear’s body and head.
